For Art’s
Sake, 2005-2006, public interventions
I model this piece after the Catholic El Camino de Compostela in Spain, in which pilgrims travel to the tomb of St James, to stage a series of pilgrimages that reverse the relationship between art and religion. In this project, religion becomes a tool in the service of art as I endure seven tortuous journeys that begin in Downtown Manhattan or in Brooklyn and conclude at seven NYC museums.
